Easy Mobile Access to Data

Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) are used for data, image, and voice transmission within a single closed location, primarily for mobile devices. They can connect units to hundreds of laptops, smartphones, tablets, and other devices. This internal network is bounded by a router, through which users access external networks, such as the internet. Within a local area network, a wireless WLAN is often combined with a fixed LAN infrastructure.

When designing WLAN networks, it is important to ensure not only good signal coverage, throughput, and reliability, but also security against unauthorized external access and risky behavior by internal users. Therefore, a local wireless network for internal users is often separated from a dedicated network for external users.
